In addition to spending some quality time with our California family, our visit out west also included some time with friends. A special treat: Christmas Eve dinner with my best friend from high school and her family.
Checking out the tree - this house is always one of my favorite with its seasonal decorations. The tree was gorgeous. Surprisingly, Michal only showed passing interest in the tree - a relief for me, as I had visions of smashed ornaments or a knocked over tree. But what does my crazy toddler love in this room? That blue ottoman on the left side of this photo. She walked straight past the tree and visited that piece of furniture a ton of times.

We ended up not being able to stay for dinner. The poor kid just did not get a ton of sleep yesterday (seeing as how she did not sleep a ton on the plane), so she started to lose it only moments before we were about to sit down to dinner. During one near-tantrum, she pitched her water sippy overboard, nearly hitting something breakable, so we took that as our cue to leave. Not long thereafter, she was asleep in bed, and I have a feeling this tired mama will follow shortly.
