It must be nice to be a baby. :)

Day 249: Baby Behaving Badly
Just when you think you have a good rhythm going, somethings gums up the works.
Michal has been a fantastic eater. I cannot say this enough. She eats everything, veggies, fruit, meat, tofu - everything. She has a healthy appetite and is willing to try new flavors, tastes, and textures.
Something is changing. I don't think it has to do with her appetite, but it certainly is affecting how much food is making it into her system.
Michal has learned a few new tricks: throwing food and spitting it out. At first, it seemed funny. She would eat something, could be anything, and then suddenly her tongue would slowly thrust out of her mouth, pushing out all of the ABC* food. It was humorous at first. It seemed she was merely experimenting with her tongue and eating, and she would go right back to quite happily eating her meal. But it continued. And we were increasingly not amused. Away went her food, back into our possession, where we fed her bite by bite. Since she has been unprejudiced in her food rejection, we have not worried too much, reasonably assured that it is a developmental step and not a steady movement towards a diet solely consisting of pizza, chicken nuggets, and macaroni and cheese.
Apparently dinner tonight did not go over well. Not only did Michal spit out her dinner (baked potato and green beans - among her favorites. Well, everything is her favorite), but she proceeded to throw her food. And the poor dog was in another room entirely, unable to take advantage of this unplanned meal. I guess we will wait this out until she finds something new to try out.
Unfortunately (or fortunately, as it may be), I have no pictures of this behavior, as I have little desire to, in any way, reinforce her meal antics. Instead, I have a few photos from today of a silly baby, misbehaving.

*If you don't know ABC food, check with your local ten year old.

Yogurt was on the snack menu today. Every time I fed her a spoonful, this silly little girl bit the spoon between her front teeth, preventing its withdrawal. She thought it funny. I did, too.
Trying to feed herself yogurt. It got messy and I intervened.
"Helping" mama work
It was a cool day with a high in the mid-60s, so the girly wore socks - first time all summer.
Well, she started out wearing socks.
I'm pretty sure she's trying to put them back on here. Unfortunately, merely pressing them against her foot did not do the trick. Mama helped out.

Day 248: Sesame Street Playset
After a busy weekend, we took today to hang out at home and play. Michal spent most of her time acquainting herself with her newest toy, this Sesame Street Neighborhood Playset. She loved trying to find ways to fit Cookie Monster through the windows (didn't work), then alternately placing him inside through the door, then pulling him back out again. It looked like great fun. She also checked out Oscar the Grouch and tried to eat Elmo. All of this was with great focus and concentration. It was serious play time.

Day 247: Scenes from an Italian Restaurant
After a day of much napping (yay!), we met up with some good friends for a delicious dinner. Although she had a few moments of nearing a tantrum or two, Michal had a blast. In between charming our neighbors - lots of "Hi!"s and waving - she sampled delicious food and played peek-a-boo using the tablecloth. This kid is nothing if not resourceful.
Her first encounter with Cheerios.
She seems amazed and befuddled but quickly found she adored them.
Looking for some friendly faces
Big smile for Uncle Roy and Aunt Kylie.
Uncle Roy always gets huge smiles from this girlie.

Day 246: Day at Grandma's
Michal spent the day at Grandma's house. From what we heard, she had a great time! They did some shopping (Michal got her Ravens gear for the season as well as this nifty laptop that looks like lots of fun), ate a delicious meal out, and had fun playing and hanging out. Pumpkin the cat even approached the baby and let her pet him. Bailey could learn a thing or two!

Day 245: Crazy Baby Pictures
Just some random photos from today. The theme is crazy. I'm not sure what this face means! Staring contest? She's double dog daring me? Trying to hypnotize me?
Working on stacking her blocks - she used to flail her arms about with the pieces, now she is able to careful thread them onto the dowels.
... and pull them off again
Checking out the lens cap to the camera. She really wanted to grab it and the lens itself.
I'm serious, mama. Very serious. I might need a haircut. Crazy hair baby.

Day 244: Bagel Thief!
We had a lovely morning today. After Josh headed off for work, Michal enjoyed a breakfast of scrambled eggs and toast. We took the dog for a walk, then came back home for some playtime before a nap and work. While Michal was playing with her toys and practicing walking, I toasted a bagel, smeared some cream cheese, and settled in to eat and watch her play.
Bit by bit, Michal started to make her way over to me. Some crawling. Some cruising, until she was there, at my side, looking up at me with her big beautiful eyes, saying "Go! Go! Go!" It's a new thing she says - we're not entirely sure what it means, but it doesn't always mean "go" or "no" or anything else we can discern. In this case, "go" meant "Please, mum, can I have some bagel?"
Yum! (The answer was obviously yes)
