Day 337: Hansel and Michal

We headed out to Virginia today to see Grandma Judy, Great-Aunt Gail, and Great-Uncle Bill.  We also brought home a bed that Michal will use some day, as well as a train table we hope she will use now.  Gail has two dogs (she kept calling them "Bailey") and a cat (Michal said "meow" each time she saw the cat walk past), so the Goose was pretty entertained.  Except the dogs are big.  And Hansel, Bill's Giant Schnauzer, was present as well.  A super sweet dog, Hansel really wanted to get close to Michal.  That didn't go over so well.

Checking out the enemy

Hansel checks out the toy Michal was playing with, while Michal seems less than confident that she has survived this encounter.

Hansel moves on.  Michal continues playing.

Checking out some of the fun toys in Cousin Nathan's room

Still not so sure of those dogs, but a little more confident once she realizes they can't get in

Really braving it now

We really need to get a piano.  I'm settling for a small kiddie one first, but I would love for her to take lessons at some point.  She really enjoys creating her musical masterpieces whenever she gets to sit down at a keyboard.

Day 336: Snacks and Shows

Just hanging out this afternoon after Michal woke up from another solid nap.  Once upon a time, she took great naps at day care, not so much at home.  Now?  It's the opposite.  No complaining here.

Josh got home just as she was waking up - the benefit of early release on Fridays.  We spent a little while, hanging out in our bedroom.  Michal got to snack on her current favorite - Cheerios - and watched her favorite anchorman, Jon Stewart.  We also watched some Dora.  I'm not sure which she liked more.  Maybe Dora.

Day 335: B. Zany

I love when Michal rediscovers a toy that she has put aside for a while.  Her Zany Zoo is one such toy.  For some reason she got tired of it and focused on other toys, then suddenly, WHAM! HELLO ZANY ZOO!  She still loves to run the wooden beads along their track on top of the cube, but she has recently discovered how much fun it is (apparently) to push the cube around.  Since she's been standing so much, she mainly pays attention to the top of the cube, and I wonder if she'll rediscover the sides as well.  We'll see.  In any case, if it lets her hang out in the kitchen while I'm cooking - NOT around my legs or on top of the step ladder - then welcome back, Zany Zoo!

Day 334: Hey, Y'all!

Today was one of those days where I didn't have much more than 60 minutes with the Goose, but I did manage to snap this picture.  Hey, y'all!  Hope you had a great day!

Day 333: Family Birthday Lunch

Today is Cousin Louise's birthday (Happy Birthday!), so we met up with family for a birthday lunch.  It was also Cousin Danny's last day in town (boo!), so we wanted to make sure we got to see him one more time before he flew off to Iowa.  Where else would we go but to our favorite Mongolian barbecue place.  Yum!  Too bad someone's been a picky pain in the butt lately...

Making a goofy face.  We sent everyone off to grill up their food while we colored and munched on Cheerios and tortilla bites.

Have I mentioned goof ball?

"Coloring"

The only marks on the paper were made by me.  I'm quite the artist, by the way.  Nothing beats my yellow sun and colorful hearts.

It's funny, though - we still have no idea if she'll end up more right- or left-hand dominant.  This picture doesn't exactly help.

Hugs with the birthday girl!

Family photo!  She's looking a little less Marlon Brando in this picture - the one immediately preceding it is a better impersonation, but not all eyes were open!  At least I managed to pull her shirt down over her full tummy!

Day 332: Standing Strong

I committed the outrageous sin of putting the baby down to make dinner.

She did not approve.

This is how she expressed her displeasure.  Maybe she's trying to block me from getting to the stove?  Trying to push me down?  Just wants me to pick her up and won't move until i do so?  I'm not entirely sure.

Crazy baby.

Day 331: Goosey Kid

Moments like this, I can't argue that this baby goose is turning into a goosey kid!
She still crawls more than she walks, but the ratio changes every day.  She amazes me.
