Day 311: First Day of School

Today was Michal's first day of school (or day care - whatever you want to call it.  Since this one is called a learning academy, I'm going with school).  She has not been at a day care since the last week of August, instead hanging out with me and helping me with my work.  If you have ever had a fourteen month old help you with your job, you can imagine how that has gone.  It has been an experience, to say the least, and after an incredibly insane experience trying to get her school lined up, it feels amazing to finally have something actually work out.

So today was her first day, and I was a blubbery mess.  You'd think we had never been apart.  Even so, there were tears today - all on my part - and she had a great day, playing and learning.  Napping, not so much apparently.  I'm sure with time it will all work itself out.

Hanging out with the toys when we came to pick her up.  I was a little surprised (sad?) that she wasn't as ridiculously happy as I was to be reunited.  Just her chill happy self.

New tricks - Michal LOVES to climb.  I think it is her absolutely favorite thing to do right now.  She gets mad if we don't let her climb up the stairs whenever she wishes.  Newest in the area of climbing - step stool. I didn't even know she could do this until one day, last week, I found her doing something like this:
Today it was the Hebrew letter magnets on the refrigerator, but she'll climb even if the stool isn't next to anything interesting.  Our chill kid is becoming just a bit more adventurous, and we really can't take our eyes off of her for any amount of time.  If it isn't the step stool or stairs, it's her other favorite new toy - the dog's food and water bowls.  Oy.

Day 310: Life is Like a Box of Raspberries

Such a silly goose!  We took a trip to Costco recently to stock up on a few necessities, and grabbed a cardboard box to help carry our items out to the car.  Well, Michal not only found the box, but she pulled it down and found a way to sit down in it.  Considering she isn't walking yet, it was funny watching her try to find a way into her newly found toy, but she definitely did it!  I'm not entirely sure what was so enticing about this box, but I definitely got a kick out of her blowing raspberries while in it - it originally held just that - raspberries!  Our little raspberry is much cuter, though.  I might be biased.

Day 309: Rain of Cheerios

Love this picture so much.  It gives you such a sense of Michal's world.  You have, of course, all her favorite toys - Simba, PB the dog, her stacking/nesting blocks, and her fun, musical bug toy.  And of course you have Bailey, or Bah-buh, as she calls him.  You have a cup of cheerios - a favorite snack.  And you have the overly excited baby, who, in her insanely excited desire to inhale as many cheerios as possible, grabbed a huge handful, dropping half in a rain of cheerios.  And Bailey, always so helpful, is there to help clean up.  Happy Saturday!

Day 308: Mommy Daughter Day

Just a nice, relatively-lazy day with my favorite girl.  We ran a few errands and played - that was the extent of our morning and afternoon.  I decided to try my usual self-portrait with Michal, and it took a while to get a shot in which she was NOT giving me weird looks.  Looks that told me she did not appreciate her strange hair-do.  Finally I got her to stick out her tongue.  Voila.  Shot captured.  Happy Friday!

Day 307: Breakfast Foods

New breakfast food today - waffles!  I had been thinking of picking up some waffles for a while now (although I was going to get whole wheat waffles - Josh picked up buttermilk and blueberry), but today was their inaugural appearance on the breakfast menu.  I think she liked them.

Surprisingly, this hadn't really happened until this morning.  Sure, Bailey stalks the highchair during meal times, and sometimes Michal obliges him a fallen treat or three.  I guess she has never had a snack or meal he wanted that badly.  Cheerios garner some interest, but cottage cheese, yogurt, tofu?  Bailey would rather sleep under the kitchen table.

Today?  Just after I took this picture, Bailey scored some waffle.  I think Michal was a little perplexed as to where her waffle disappeared - it was in her hand a second before!

Day 306: Brrrr!

Boy is it getting cold!  Even though daytime temperatures get up into the 50s and 60s, first thing in the morning it is often MUCH colder - usually in the 30s or 40s.  It is necessary then to bundle up when we take the dog out in the morning.  It is semi-torture for this kid who would rather go barefoot year round (just like her mama!).  This morning I tucked her up into the blanket a made for her last month.  Oh, and she's wearing her winter coat from last year - somehow it still fits!

I guess cold weather is coming.  Can we start the countdown for spring?

Day 305: Yummy Snack

Yummy snack.... or, as Michal says, "Mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm"
